About the Designer

Hi there! My name is Anna Lora Whitley. I am the designer and calligrapher behind Silt and Pine. I was born and raised in the great state of Mississippi. I graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Marketing and Communications. I moved to Nashville, Tennessee when I met my husband, Matt, in 2009. We got married in a small ceremony with our closest family in New Orleans, Louisiana in April 2010.

After doing graphic design and event planning for an insurance company, I took a job doing account management and managing product/booth logistics for markets for a wholesale company that specializes in paper tabletop products, stationery and home goods. This proved to be invaluable experience for me as I started my own business shortly after.

My husband was offered a great job opportunity in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2015 that we couldn’t pass up. So, we packed everything up and made the move to Philly with our first (dog) child, Lucille (named after our shared love of Arrested Development and B.B. King). While we made the move for Matt’s job, it was the opportunity of a lifetime for me to pursue my dream of having my own business. That is when Silt and Pine was born.

In September 2016, we found out we were pregnant with our beautiful daughter, Mae Elizabeth. By December, we were packing up again to head back to Nashville so we could be closer to our families and friends. Mae was born on March 29, 2017, and she definitely changed our lives forever… for the absolute best.
